Amazon Prime Video is the platform to watch online series and movies via streaming developed and maintained by the e-commerce giant with the intention to compete with other important companies in this sector like HBO or Netflix. It comes along with an official application for Android smartphones and tablets so that we can watch all our favorite series and movies straight from our phone, wherever we are.
How does Amazon Prime Video work?
It's really simple. Just download the APK from Google Play, insert your Amazon Prime credentials and start exploring the contents offered, neatly organized in three different tabs: Home, Series and Movies.
Simply select the cover of any of the multimedia contents available and start playing the series or movie in the desired quality (there are three available), provided that you've registered on the service previously. We've also got the possibility to download contents to view them offline when we don't have an Internet connection available.
Watch The Grand Tour, Mozart in the Jungle or Man in the High Castle from your phone.
The truth is that for the time being it doesn't look like this service can stand up to Netflix or HBO, firstly due to its rather small catalog (we hope it expands in the future) and the absence of some really basic features such as the possibility to mirror contents to a larger screen using Chromecast.
How much does Amazon Prime Video cost?
Well, following suit to other movie and series streaming services that have appeared as of lately, Amazon's video platform offers a free month on trial to all its new subscribers. However, to be able to enjoy those 30 days without cost, you'll have to input credit card details into the application, because once that period is up the online shopping giant will automatically start to charge you 19.95 euros per year, which is much less than HBO or Netflix. However, if you're already an Amazon Premium member, you won't have to pay an extra fee.
