The company specialized in digital sound, Native Instruments, introduced some time ago a multi-channel audio format that allows us to mix up to five stereo channels separately. Each one of these tracks is called a stem and Stem Creator is the tool that allows you to create and edit them to be processed as independent tracks in a DAW or wave editor.
Audio processed separately
The advantage of working with stems is that they can be processed separately, which allows the DJ or producer to extract elements from a song or apply effects to a single line of the latter. Finally, they are all stored in MP4 format, which allows any compatible player to read them.
More freedom for musicians.
