fre:ac is a program that has been designed to extract audio from a CD. Previously known as BonkEnc, it's also a useful format converter, that will allow you to convert your songs from one format to another in a very simple way. Furthermore, you'll also have the possibility to recode an audio file using the same format.

To extract the audio from a CD, you only have to select the output format of the resulting files, and the bitrate that you want them to have. With regard to the codec used by fre:ac, you'll have the possibility to choose it or just to leave the one that is set by default. Once you have selected the format, in a few seconds you'll have the files stored in your folder.

fre:ac also allows you to search for information about the CD by means of an online database, with which you'll be able to tag the songs.
