There's no need for you to ask what Google Backup and Sync is all about because its name gives it away. It's the application developed by the Californian company that can be used to create backups and synchronize them between devices, whether iOS, Linux, Android or Windows, apart from Mac.
Synchronize local files with Drive on the web
But what's so special about this app? Well, we could define it as an improved or advanced version of Google Drive. In fact, it solves many of the limitations of this online storage service in its desktop version because it improves the folder backup system. Whilst it copies to the cloud the contents of all the folders we indicate and improves the synchronization with other platforms, it's also capable of sending images to Google Photos, the company's image storage service.

How to use Google's app to make backups and synchronize them?
It works just like Drive because it's basically a service conceived to reinforce the platform: when we install the program it creates a folder that becomes accessible from all the devices with the same app installed. All modifications carried out on a file in that folder will be visible on the rest of devices. But it also offers these possibilities:
- Sync other folders on your computer (you can indicate as many as you want).
- Sync USB devices and SD cards.
- Make backups of videos and photos on Google Photos.
As we mentioned above, it has been developed to improve the features offered by the online storage service Drive, in order to compete with others of the likes of Dropbox and OneDrive. This tool is also available for Windows PC.
