Google's research lab, Research at Google, is in charge of finding how to apply the different ideas of their engineers and developers to those aspects that the company is working on. Together with Selfissimo! and Storyboard, they've now launched Scrubbies, a great video editing app.
A very intuitive and flexible video editor
This application intends to take video editing to the next level. It's not all about applying effects, removing frames, subtitling or creating montages, but about modifying the playback of the recording, creating loops.
Create loops with your videos by means of simple finger gestures, swiping the screen to make the playback advance and go back.
In other words, you can play videos in loops making the playback go back and forth. It works as follows:
- Step 1: open a video in the application or record a video by means of the camera built into the app.
- Step 2: once you've opened the video, swipe your finger across the screen whilst its playing to take it back and forth.
- Step 3: record it by swiping with two fingers.
- Step 4: you can save the result automatically in your gallery to go back to it whenever you want and share it straight from the app.
The most revolutionary aspect of this application for iPhone is how we interact to create the loops only by means of gestures.
