Microsoft offers its operating system users a series of recommended update patches, that improve the computer's performance or solve security vulnerabilities that have been detected. That is the case with Windows 2000 Update KB292435.
Windows 2000 Update KB292435 is a patch that fixes an error that consisted in the possibility that invalid information from the RDP (Remote Data Protocol) could cause the loss of memory in the Terminal Server Services. This could be used by an attacker, in the following way: if the attacker sends a big data pack to the affected computer, he/she could fill all the computer's memory causing it to slow down, or in some cases even to freeze.
