Some of the most popular search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing...) offer us the possibility to search for graphical material. You already know how to look for images and photos, right? Just type in the query into the search box and you'll be shown plenty of results associated to the concept you wrote down.

A tool to help you protect your images and graphical projects.

But sometimes we might be interested in finding the source of a specific image that we may have saved on our hard drive or that's accessible online through a certain URL. For such purpose, and as an alternative to Google Images, we can make use of a service of the likes Image Raider.

How do reverse image searches work and what are they for?

Although we can think of many different uses, one of the most usual cases has to do with copyrights and offering image creators a way to protect their work:

  • Photographers, designers or any other image professional that wants to know if someone is using their creations without permission.
  • Anyone that wants to know if somebody has used a certain photo on the Internet.
  • People searching for the original source of any image.

For all these cases, this webapp offers us a service that can be used on any device, whether a PC with Windows or Linux, macOS, iPhone or Android, without needing to download an EXE, APK or any other installation file: just open your web browser and access the URL.

How does it work?

It's really easy as you can find images using two different methods: uploading the photo of reference from your hard drive or pasting a URL. From their on, the search is performed on Google, Bing and Yandex's search engine, returning all possible results and allowing you to search for up to 20 images simultaneously.

The results returned can be found on both web pages and XML sitemaps, as well as graphical repositories of the likes of Flickr, DevianArt or 500px.
