The main difference between indie and commercial audiovisual productions is that the project's funding doesn't depend on huge corporations or groups that have influence over the authors' creativity (having said that, we don't know when the indie tag applied to music became a style instead of a way of producing...).
I'm more into Dogme 95 and Wong Kar-wai
If you prefer to ignore all those consumer movie productions because you're more into Lars Von Trier, Korean films in which two heads speak to each other for 3 and a half hours only interrupted by never-ending silences or documentaries produced in Congo, don't think twice: SnagFilms is your app.
It's a platform with over 5,000 titles including movies, documentaries, and programs, amongst which you can find excellent high-quality videos that don't need to spend millions on tiresome and advertising campaigns to tell us a story. Just a tiny dig at Marvel and other franchises.
In this app you can find technical datasheets, synopses, trailers, the possibility to create playlists... however, it's not available in all countries. As you know, some places are really concerned about copyrights and other minor issues.
