Facebook Messenger is the second most used instant messaging and chat application in the world, only behind WhatsApp. That means that Zuckerberg is in control of the majority of users that chat by phone although the truth is that many of them probably have both applications installed on their devices.
And in order to reach every single place in the world, even where Internet connections aren't as good as they should be, and to all users, regardless of whether they use old or new generation phones. Bearing this in mind, the guys at Menlo Park designed Messenger Lite or, in other words, the lite version of Facebook's Messenger.
Lighter and with lower resource and data consumption
These are the main differences with its older brother who has always been accused of consuming too much in all senses. Once you download the application's APK, you'll be able to check it out for yourself and see that its menus, its interface, and the rest of the app only has the essential functions.
However, you can still download it even if you use a Samsung S8 with a 4G connection as it's now only limited to low-end phones. To log in you only need your username and password for this social network. In fact, if you usually visit places where the signal is bad, you'll be able to use it better than the full version that will always require greater bandwidth.
Don't give up on chatting with your contacts even if your connection is poor or your device is getting old.
These are the main functions that you'll find in the lite version of this app to chat with your Facebook contacts:
- Send messages to all your contacts.
- Take part in group chats.
- Make phone calls.
- It occupies less storage space (less than 10 MB).
- Faster loading speed.
- Lower data usage.
- Optimized for devices with 2G connections.
- Compatible with outdated versions of Android, including Gingerbread.
We have to admit that Facebook took a great decision when releasing this version of the app. To download this Messenger, you only need to go to Google Play without requiring to make use of alternatives of the likes of Aptoide, APKPure, or APKMirror.
However, is there a version for iOS? Unfortunately, you won't be able to find one on the App Store. The reason why there's an Android version is the greater fragmentation of devices that use this mobile operating system: there are phones made by hundreds of different brands and with different technical specs. In the case of Apple's smartphone, there are only a few models on the market that are sold all over the world.
