Steam, with the intention to confirm its leadership in the online sales of video games, is continuing to develop new systems to make its platform compatible with as many devices as possible. For such purpose, it has created an app called Steam Link for iOS and Android, a system that replicates the hardware of the same name that allows us to play its games on Smart TVs making the most of their 4K resolution.
Play your Steam games on your iPhone or iPad
The mobile version of Link is based on a similar system that's capable of streaming the games we run on our PC to our iPhone or iPad, allowing us to control them from those devices. However, apart from obviously needing to have both devices on the same network whether by WiFi or Ethernet cable, we also need to have a gamepad compatible with the Mfi standard. That means that we can use our Xbox or PS4 controllers.
Until now, we could only play PC games on a smartphone with an NVIDIA card and the Moonlight app that made use of the NVIDIA Shield but Steam, as we mentioned above, has implemented this updated to extend the domains of its online store as much as possible.
The app, available for both Apple's mobile devices and Android in APK format, won't be released until May 21st, 2018. Patience is a virtue!
