Back in 1989, SEGA released what soon became a great classic. One may get goosebumps just remembering those graphics and that dwarf with his huge axe. And now we've finally got a remake for mobile phones, whether iPhone or Android in APK format, thanks to the new SEGA Forever collection published by the Japanese video game company. It's a great way of recalling some of the best games of our youth, however, so many adverts can be a drawback so it might be worth paying the tiny amount of money to remove them from this title that, otherwise, you can play for free. That in-app purchase also allows you to save your progress locally and on the cloud. Doesn't sound too bad, does it?
Having said that, it's time to get stuck into this adventure in which we'll have to try to defeat Death Adder and all his henchmen, skeletons, and other legendary characters. Choose your favorite hero: dwarf, barbarian, or horsewoman, and travel to Turtle Village to start hitting out with your axe and casting spells.
The multiplayer experience is soon to come.
Will there be any improvement or an online mode?
The game's developers have promised to launch an online mode in the near future in order to adapt the game to modern times, without losing that classic atmosphere and spark that made it a hit on arcade machines or consoles of the likes of the Mega Drive. Let's hope they bring out a Golden Axe 2 as well but for the time being, we'll cope with the multiplayer online mode to be able to play against our friends.
To start off, it wouldn't be a bad idea to introduce a cooperative mode based on Bluetooth or a LAN connection. Now, that would definitely be worth paying for.
