The Spanish Ministry of Education has asked a committee of teachers and educators to develop an application that will help language teachers of all school levels to create interactive multimedia learning units, the result is Malted. Based on Java, this software is really useful due to the fact that it takes into account all levels (from primary to high school) and that it is totally customizable.
Educational software to teach languages
The interface used for Malted that has been developed to be eye-catching for students and to help them finish the tasks they face, that can vary from associating names and colors to complete idioms and phrasal verbs. All the latter, with a design that is close to the design of an educational game.
Malted, acronym of Multimedia Authoring for Language Tutors and Educational Development, also has a download manager that connects to the website enabled by the Ministry to download new contents, tests and learning levels. So that we will always have new material to use with our students.
Furthermore, Malted provides links that can be very useful for teachers, thus allowing them to make the most of the software.
