How to install MODs in Friday Night Funkin' for Android

The popularity of Friday Night Funkin' has led to the appearance of countless MODs for this video game. One of the most common doubts of the players is related to the way to install them correctly, so we tell you all the possibilities you have at your disposal.

Prerequisites

Before we get down to business, it will be necessary to have certain Android tools that are indispensable in this process.

The original game

First, you will need to download Friday Night Funkin'. This is because the installation of a MOD consists of modifying the original video game files. Here is the link to download it.

Once we have the APK of the game on our device, it will be time to install a file explorer. In this case, we have chosen Zarchiver, which you can download from the following link.

Once you tap here, you will be redirected to the application download website. Here, you must tap on the green button, as shown in the image:

Once the download is finished, just tap the Open button where it will appear at the bottom of the screen.

You must now confirm the installation of Zarchiver. To do this, just tap the Install option in the box.

How to install an FNF MOD manually

Many communities offer you MODs independently. In this case, we have decided to use the one of Zelda and Link, although the steps we will show you apply to any MOD you have available.

The first thing you will do is go to the applications we have previously installed and look for the Zarchiver file explorer.

In the explorer, look for the Download folder, there, you should have the APK of the game and the download of the MOD you want to install.

Here, you will find the two files in question. Tap and hold the button corresponding to the APK of the game.

Now, you will see a new menu appear at the bottom of the screen, there, you should look for the Extract to option.

In the file explorer, you will see the new folder appear. For the moment, we will leave it on hold and repeat the process with the mod file.

Tap and hold the MOD button and wait for the pop-up menu to appear. Here, you will extract the files again with the Extract to option.

You will now have at your disposal all the necessary folders to make the file transfers. So go into the folder extracted from the mod.

Tap on the only folder where you can. In this part, you will be looking for the files that make up the mod, so it is time to dig in.

When you get to the folder with the files, go to the top menu and tap on the three dots on the right.

Once you have done so, look for the Multi-Select option and tap on it as shown in the following image.

Tap on the first button of the top menu as shown in the screenshot. When you do so, tap on the Select All option.

Click continuously on any of the files marked in green, and when the box appears, tap on Copy.

Now, go to the top box and tap there to move around in the file browser without losing the selection you have made.

To do this, select the Download folder, which will take you back to the main folder.

Once there you will have to enter the folder with the Friday Night Funkin' files, so tap on it.

Browse through the folders until you find the files related to the images. In this case, tap on assets.

You will advance to the next folder, where you will again see a series of options. Re-enter assets.

The system will ask you if you want to overwrite the files. It is important that, before you tap on Replace, you check the Apply to all files box.

When the files have finished loading, return to the main game folder. Now, tap on the top menu and activate the Multi-Select mode.

With all the files marked in green, look again for the button located in the lower right area.

Zip the files

This step is to compress the folder into a ZIP file, so be sure to choose this option before pressing the OK button.

You will now return to your applications screen and search for ZipSigner. After opening the App, you will see the following interface.

Here, you should select the Choose In/Out button and you will see the file explorer used by this program appear.

Browse to the folder where you left the ZIP file with the modified game data and tap on it.

You will return to the main ZipSigner screen. All you have to do is tap the Sign The File button and wait for the process to finish.

Before going back and installing the modified game, it will be imperative that you make sure that the original version has been deleted.

Tap and hold the game button and wait until the pop-up menu appears. Tap Uninstall and confirm the uninstallation.

Log back into Zarchive and return to the folder where you left the mod. Now, you will see the original file and another one with the word signed.

Tap on the file with the word signed and hold down until the pop-up menu appears.

Change its name

Select the Rename option to modify its name. With this, it will only be necessary to change the file extension from ZIP to APK.

Tap the OK button. Close and reopen Zarchive. When you go back to the folder where you made the name modification, you will now see the following.

Tap the APK file you have created. You will see a new menu appear, where you will have to select the Install option.

Confirm the installation in the pop-up box that will appear. To do this, simply tap the Install button again.
