Another smartphone installment of the most legendary fighting game franchise of all time

Capcom's famous fighting game saga took the 90s by storm. However, it never stopped being successful, and now, it is back in a new format and with a curious mix of genres that will surprise everybody.

A totally renewed retro experience

The Street Fighter: Duel Android app is a fantastic 2D fighting game with strategy, RPG, and card collection mechanics. Its main appeal is letting us meet again with epic fighters such as Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Honda, Blanca, and Guile, among other old acquaintances. But in a slightly different way than old-school gamers might have expected.

Because when you download Street Fighter: Duel for free, you will find a surprise not well-received by some fans: the combats are automatic. The player's task is to create a balanced team of four warriors, level them up, distribute equipment, and unlock skills.

On the battlefield, your fighters are in charge of attacking and defending while the player is a mere witness to the action (which is spectacular, admittedly). We can intervene to activate special powers, but even that can be automated. Therefore, we could be looking at the first Street Fighter game in which we will not even have to throw a punch. And because of this, the application loses much of the charm of the original games.

On the other hand, Street Fighter: Duel APK offers us an impeccable title at a technical level, highlighting the classic melodies and retro-style graphics that have been modernized and stylized for the occasion. It is also very well optimized and works perfectly even on low-end devices. It is a pity it will remain in a love-hate relationship with the old-school players.
