Garena Free Fire is a battle royale-style video game, a genre that mixes adventure, action, and third-person shooter. The goal is to be the last survivor on an island where you must face 49 other rivals in an open battle where every player is on its own. The game is also called Free Fire, or Free Fire Battlegrounds, it is clearly inspired by PUBG and was developed by 111dots Studio and Garena. The beta version was released in November 2017, but the game was finally released for Android on December 4, 2017.

In the main game mode, the user controls a character that is placed in an airplane together with 49 other players from all over the world. Everyone is parachuted to an island where they must find weapons and equipment to fight each other within a limited time and an increasingly smaller radius of action. The last player standing wins the game. There are two extra modes of play available, either in pairs or in teams of four. You can contact other players in your region or create your own team with your friends. There are also some additional game modes where you can get items and equipment for your character. Additionally, you will find the usual store with integrated purchases and regular events.

Garena Free Fire belongs to the great group of Asian battle royale games that emerged from the success of PUBG and Fortnite. It is not the only Asian game in the same style, others are Rules of Survival or Cyber Hunter.
