Amongst the most successful literary sagas of the last few years, we definitely have to point out Harry Potter. Created by J.K. Rowling, the first book of the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was published back in 1997, but it was such a hit that it led to movies (featuring Daniel Radcliffe in the main role), merchandising and video games.
And this is precisely a video game aimed at making more money within the world of Hogwarts. We're talking about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a game based on an augmented reality system similar to Pokémon GO. In fact, Niantic is also behind the development of this title.
All the Harry Potter characters now in the real world
For the time being, there's not too much information about this game that, according to its developers, will bring to the real world all those characters and creatures that feature in the books. We can turn our surroundings into an adventure such as those lived by Harry Potter, Ron Weasley or Hermione Granger in their eternal fight against the evil Lord Voldemort.
Different objects, devices, and elements that appear in books such as The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Goblet of Fire, The Child's Curse, The Order of the Phoenix or The Deathly Hallows are going to be materialized in our streets and neighborhoods just as the range of Pokémon GO creatures did back then.
Harry Potter GO: augmented reality to recreate the magical world created by Rowling.
As we mentioned above, we still don't have too much info about the game so we don't know if we're going to have to walk for miles on end just like in the Pokémon game, trying to catch creatures of the likes of Articuno, Snorlax, Charmander, and the rest of them.
When is Harry Potter: Wizards Unite out?
On June 21st 2019, Wizards Unite was officially released for iPhone and iPad, coinciding with the publication date of the Android version that had already been in pre-registration stage for quite a few months. Its arrival on the App Store was a huge relief for the millions of fans of the saga that had spent plenty of time waiting for the opportunity to try out the mobile AR game that will definitely be as successful as Pokémon GO.
